A Project Accountant to join our team

Project Accountant

The perfect candidate for this position will be someone who is keen to make a significant impact on Catalyst’s strategic plan by enhancing and building upon financial systems and delivering a high-level service. Strong accuracy, advanced excel skills and prior experience of producing project reports will be essential in making this role a success.

Key Information

  • Fixed-term contract until the end of December 2023 (with a possibility of extension)
  • Competitive salary up to £45,000
  • Based at the Innovation Centre, Queen’s Road, Belfast (hybrid working arrangement available)
  • Reporting to the Interim Director of Finance
  • Closing Monday 12th June at 12noon

Responsibilities

  • Create project accounts in the accounting system.
  • Support the risk management process, Including supporting the review of department risk registers.
  • Support the interim Director of Finance in the annual budget-setting process.
  • Investigate project variances and submit variance reports to management.
  • Report on project profitability and budget position to management
  • Respond to requests for more detail from stakeholders.
  • Compile relevant information and support the delivery of both internal and external audits.
  • Monthly reporting of capital projects and management of EU and local/national government funding.
  • Support in the submission of grant applications and submission of grant claims.
  • Cost control including service charge cost reporting.
  • Undertaking any other reasonable duties which fall within the remit of this role.

Essential Criteria

  • Fully qualified accountant and current member of a recognised accountancy body.
  • Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in a busy accounts function.
  • Experience of working with Sage 50 or similar financial software package.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of attention to detail

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in successful management and delivery of EU and government funded projects.
  • ​Experience in business and entrepreneurship.
  • ​Knowledge of construction related projects.
  • ​Advanced Excel skills
  • ​Experience using Power BI

  • Proof of right to work in the UK
