A Management Accountant to join our team

Management Accountant

We’re seeking a capable and proactive finance professional to strengthen our team. This role will lead on accurate month-end processes & reporting, statutory and regulatory compliance, procurement and supporting the external audit. The ideal candidate will uphold strong financial controls, work confidently with auditors and advisers, and drive continuous improvement across our finance processes.

  • Competitive salary up to £50,000
  • Based at the Innovation Centre, Queen’s Road, Belfast (hybrid working arrangement available)
  • Reporting to the Financial Controller

Responsibilities

Reporting & Month-End:

  • Hands on ownership of the timely delivery of month-end
  • Prepare and input journals as part of the month-end process, ensuring accurate and timely completion of all supporting schedules.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and back-up schedules.
  • Support the Financial Controller with the preparation of monthly management accounts and project reporting.
  • Pull together various claim submissions to funders
  • Support the Financial Controller in periodic forecasting and financial planning activities.

Pensions, VAT & Statutory Compliance:

  • Lead the preparation and submission of the monthly pension schedule.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with relevant HMRC requirements.
  • Lead or support the preparation of statutory accounts for appropriate companies within the Group and coordinate with external advisers as required.
  • Proactively support the year-end external audit process, acting as a key point of contact for auditors and ensuring timely delivery of audit evidence.

Financial Controls:

  • Support the finance & wider Catalyst team in maintaining and improving compliance with financial procedures, policies, and internal controls.
  • Manage the procurement processes within the Finance Team.
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes where required.

Continuous Improvement & Team Support:

  • Embrace a culture of continuous improvement across the finance function by identifying and/or implementing opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen controls.
  • Perform any other duties as required to support the Finance Team.

Essential Criteria

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA)
  • At least 2 years’ post qualification experience as a Management Accountant
  • Strong hands-on experience working with Finance systems
  • Strong in all aspects of MS Office, with Advanced skills in Excel
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills including ability to gather, interpret and present complex data

  • Proof of right to work in the UK
