For one adrenaline-fuelled day, Catalyst employees, partner companies and wider community members are taking on the bold challenge of cycling 1,185 miles in under 20 hours to raise vital funds for Cancer Fund for Children. The Spinathon will take place Thursday 12 June 2025 from 7am to 5pm.
In support of local tech founders who are taking on the 26 Mountains 2 Mayo Challenge and visiting the highest point of each county in Ireland in June, Catalyst is riding for a cause that matters with an aim to raise £50,000 for the charity, matching that of the tech founders’ target.
Taking on the equivalent of cycling the distance between the 26 peaks to Mayo, Catalyst’s Spinathon Challenge will take place using seven high-performance spin bikes across its three locations: Titanic Quarter, Bedford Street and Derry~Londonderry.
The Cancer Fund for Children provides vital support to children, young people and families affected by cancer, helping them cope with the emotional and physical impacts of diagnosis and treatment.
Catalyst is calling for support to help reach the £50,000 target and be part of something powerful. Options of support include Corporate Team Entry at £500 per hour and Event Sponsorship. Those getting involved will benefit from brand visibility across Catalyst platforms, supporting local tech community and most importantly, help children and families facing cancer.
An independent, non-profit science and technology hub focused on fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Northern Ireland, Catalyst’s vision is to help create a society whose economy makes a difference to the world, contributing to solving global challenges, achieving this because of the breadth of participation and creativity of all people from all backgrounds.
Niamh Griffin, Head of Community at Catalyst said: “We are delighted to get behind the phenomenal local tech founders in their ambitious 26 Mountains 2 Mayo Challenge by taking on a Spinathon of our own. The Catalyst Spinathon is more than just miles on a bike – it’s a rallying call to our entire community to come together in support of the life-changing work of Cancer Fund for Children. Their impact on children and families is profound, and we’re determined to help ensure that support continues. We’re calling on businesses, partners, and our wider community to get involved – whether that’s through sponsorship, participation or simply spreading the word.”
