Invent – Phil McIntosh, Jumpack
Tell us about you and your product?
Jumpack is the world’s first truly portable kicker ramp for Action Sports. Used primarily by users engaged in BMX, MTB, Stunt Scooters, Skateboarding, In-line skating and snowboarding, Jumpack is a ‘transformer’ style jump ramp that can be carried in its own custom backpack as users ride, skate or scoot from location to location. It sets up in seconds without the need for assembly and boasts an internal dampening system to ensure that the ramp won’t move during use. Jumpack has already been adopted by some of the world’s top extreme sports athletes including Nitro Circus & X Games athletes and has customers in around 50 countries.

What did Invent do for you?
Invent adds a genuine buzz of excitement to the development of your project. You will become part of a larger extended family of innovators that are happy to share experiences, advice and resources. The Invent team also arrange access to expert advice, training and mentoring support which proved invaluable in the months prior to launching our business. If you have the opportunity to take part, I would highly recommend it.
How has your product changed/ developed since your time in Invent?
I entered Invent in 2016 with a prototype of the Jumpack concept. Since 2016 I have gone on to perfect the design for manufacture, produce the required tooling, launch the product worldwide, complete two production runs and ship ramps to customers in around 50 countries.
What’s next for you?
We plan to continue to grow throughout 2020 and also add merchandising to our portfolio to build the Jumpack / Get Air Anywhere brands. I am also working on a potential licensing arrangement with one of the world’s most famous athletes.
Why would you recommend Invent?
Innovating can be a very lonely place with so many unknowns and much second-guessing. However, it doesn’t have to be that way. The Invent competition and the support structure you will enjoy will help you to build a map of where your business needs to go. I would highly recommend Invent to anyone that has an opportunity to take part.
