Having worked as a founding member of an early-stage high-growth start-up you will have deep empathy with entrepreneurs as they progress from Proof of Concept through to scaling their businesses.(Consideration will be given to first employees or C-suite roles with the background and experience outlined above).

An experienced manager to lead ahigh-performing team to deliver all entrepreneurialsupport programmes from early stage to those designed to support growth and scalingcompanies.

Key Information

  • Contract – full time, permanent
  • Salary up to £75,000 (depending on qualifications and experience)
  • Based at the Innovation Centre, Queen’s Road, Belfast (hybrid working arrangement available)
  • Reporting to the Director of Entrepreneurship & Scaling

The Role

What are we looking for?

Catalyst is seeking a Head of Entrepreneurship to lead the Programme teamresponsible for the successful delivery of all entrepreneurial programmes focused on creating opportunities for new entrepreneurs and supporting the growth and success of start-ups. In addition to managing across programmes, this individual would be tasked to lead Catalyst’s entrepreneur support, which is centred on the Connect methodology, avolunteer platform to support entrepreneurs.

Responsibilities

  • To review programme activity and results on aregularly basis with the Director ofEntrepreneurship to ensure that strategic objectives are met.
  • Lead activities with the Programme team to continue development of acomprehensive programme strategy that leverages synergy between programmes forentrepreneurs and measures critical ROI outcomes.
  • Line management of the team ensuring high productivity, engagement andachievement of programme and personal outcomes.
  • Manage expenditure of aprogramme budget circa £1m to deliver optimal impact.
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of aportfolio of impactful programmes,working closely across teams to ensure quality standards are maintained.
  • To be the principal lead in identifying and sourcing external funding opportunities forprogramme delivery and growth.
  • To ensure athriving volunteer community of both individuals and partnerorganisations which has been and continues to be integral to the delivery and supportof the programmes.
  • Report to key stakeholders to ensure clear communications of programme status,risks and dependencies. Key stakeholders include Steering Committee, governmentand/or funding bodies etc.
  • Design and evolve programmes in partnership with research base and ensuring strongcollaboration with QUB and UU on delivering effective student and staffentrepreneurship support.
  • To provide high-level network development and coordination to include new andexisting relationships with all stakeholders, particularly tenant companies, industryorganisations and university research staff, faculty and students.

Essential Criteria

  • Asuccessful entrepreneur who not only understands the start-up journey but hasideally lived through the challenges of scaling an early-stage innovation company. (Consideration will be given to first employees or C-suite roles with the background and experience outlined above) 
  • Significant experience of internal business change, including stakeholder buy in andcreating and implementing new ways of working and processes. 
  • Experience in networking, partnership building, and relationship management at asenior level in the private sector. 
  • Experience of programme planning including online workflow, productivity, andcollaboration tools. 
  • An excellent track record of building and managing ateam.

Criteria may be enhanced to aid shortlisting. Exceptional candidates who do not meet the criteria may be considered for the role provided they have the necessary skills and experience.

As HR Officer, in a small and busy team, Emma is responsible for providing expert support on daily activities and key HR projects.

Prior to joining Catalyst, Emma obtained a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management and is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
