A Director of Finance to join our team

Director of Finance

Reporting directly to the CEO, your strategic guidance and financial expertise will drive our fiscal success, ensuring optimal resource allocation, budget management and long-term financial planning.  

As company secretary, you will play a pivotal role as guardian of corporate governance and regulatory compliance ensuring that Catalyst operates with the highest level of integrity and transparency.   

With oversight of IT advancements, you will lead the integration of technology to optimise operational efficiencies and data protection and compliance.  

As a member of the leadership team, this role will be instrumental in upholding our company values and ensuring that the impact of our vision and mission will resonate for years to come.  

 

Key Information

  • Contract – full time, permanent
  • Internationally attractive salary and generous total remuneration package  
  • Based at the Innovation Centre, Queen’s Road, Belfast (hybrid working arrangement available after an initial onboarding period)  
  • Reporting to CEO

The Role

What are we looking for?

Catalyst is seeking to appoint an exceptional and experienced candidate to the position of Director of Finance. This leadership position will play a vital role in shaping the organisations financial strategy, ensuring financial stability, and driving growth. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of Catalyst strategy.
  • Lead the development and implementation of financial strategies that align with Catalyst’s vision and mission, ensuring long-term sustainable growth.
  • Oversee the creation of Catalyst strategy formation and coordination of the quarterly review process.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team to provide an efficient and effective financial service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the financial planning and budgeting process, providing accurate forecasts and analysis to support strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee and control the company’s annual operating budget, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting to support strategic recommendations based on thorough analysis of financial data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate and optimise business opportunities and drive cost efficiency initiatives.
  • Actively manage the effectiveness of the IT resources of Catalyst monitoring requirements, specifications, costs, and contractual arrangements.
  • Ensure full compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements providing appropriate levels of internal controls and adherence to best practice in corporate governance and risk management.
  • Fulfil the role of Company Secretary to all Group companies and act as Secretary to all Board Committees, ensuring compliance with all regulatory, financial, accounting and tax regulations.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions to ensure timely completion of audits, compliance filings, and other financial obligations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, economic developments, and regulatory changes that may impact Catalyst’s financial performance and proactively address potential risks.
  • Undertaking any other reasonable duties which fall within the remit of the role.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of developing and executing company strategy 
  • Fully qualified member of a recognised accountancy body (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) 
  • Proven track record of at least 10 years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles, preferably within the private sector. 
  • Extensive experience of delivering financial services to include financial planning; budgeting; producing statutory accounts & management accounts; project appraisals and costing; and procurement.  
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change and lead financial transformation initiatives. 
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the proven ability to interpret and present financial data effectively with stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Strong leadership experience with the skills to motivate and lead change towards a common vision or goal 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. 
  • Advanced Excel and IT skills, in particular detailed understanding and demonstrated experience in the use of databases, spreadsheets, and financial reporting tools

Prior to joining Catalyst, Emma obtained a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management and is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
