We are inviting applications for our next Director of Entrepreneurship & Scaling. This is a rare senior opportunity available, where you play a key leadership role within Catalyst.

As part of the executive team, working with our partners and the wider innovation community, you will play a critical role in the design and implementation of entrepreneurial and scaling activity that will create meaningful impact and change for NI. You will lead the creation of new and the development of existing programmes and initiatives helping entrepreneurs and partners gain a competitive advantage, drive innovation, and create new technology advances that could change the world.

Someone who can position our entrepreneurial programmes as a key driver of economic growth through increased innovation, increased start up activity and more high value companies realising high growth potential.

Responsibilities

  •  Assist in the development and implementation of Catalyst strategy.
  •  Lead the development and implementation of Catalyst’s Entrepreneurship & Scaling strategy.
  •  Lead a multi-functional team of 12 responsible for the successful delivery of high-quality entrepreneurial programmes that support new entrepreneurs and start-ups get to market and accelerate growth.
  •  Support the funding journey of high-value companies and establish a network of potential investment opportunities.
  •  Lead the design and evolution of Catalyst Inclusivity activity to address gaps in entrepreneurship in NI.
  •  Seek new avenues and secure external funding for Entrepreneurship & Scaling activities.
  •  Evolve and grow the membership model of Catalyst Partners and sponsors that delivers a compelling experience and grows commercial income.
  •  Develop trusting relationships with the entrepreneurial community to better understand their businesses to generate greater value to them through collaborations/partnerships.
  • Develop and manage critical relationships with key stakeholders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
  • Develop and maintain strategic partnerships and relationships with senior NI stakeholders (HE, FE, Government bodies, Councils).
  • Assume Budget responsibility for all Entrepreneurship & Scaling activity.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties which fall within the remit of the role.

Essential Criteria

  • 10+ years post qualification experience with a proven track record in the private sector
  • Part of a founding team within an innovative high growth sector with a proven ability to empathise with entrepreneurs
  • Experience of leadership in a scaling company
  • Visible and dynamic leadership style with the ability to lead change towards a common vision or goal
  • Experience of collaboration, partnership building and relationship management at C-suite level with both private and public sectors
  • Experience with developing and executing company strategy
  • Experience of agile and collaborative working practices with a strong operational focus
  • Excellent communication skills in all forms with the ability to convey and position complex information in easy-to-understand terms
  • Experience at representing an organisation at high level events
  • Experience of budgetary responsibilities including preparing and managing budgets
  • Personal and professional commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion

Desirable Criteria

  • Relevant international experience in entrepreneurship or innovation

  • Proven ability to generate new ideas and strategies for programme evolution

  • Experience of a similar role in technology-based entrepreneurial ecosystems

  • Proven experience and participation in entrepreneurial ecosystems e.g., volunteering as a mentor or managing programmes and their co-design
