Building Officer

Catalyst is a member centric organisation, striving to deliver a professional and comprehensive service to all member companies and users of the Catalyst community. As a Building Officer, we are looking for someone to be pro-active in their approach when serving the community, doing everything within their power to meet the member needs and delivering a high-class customer experience. Agility and preparation will be key in this position to mitigate against any high-level risk that may negatively impact member experience.

  • Contract – Full Time, Permanent
  • Salary up to £25,000 depending on qualifications/experience
  • Based at the Innovation Centre, Queen’s Road, Belfast
  • Reporting to the Head of Facilities
  • Closing Monday 26th June at 12noon

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with Catalyst member companies and community for the provision of facilities and services.
  • Strong customer service skills to ensure all member issues are responded to in a timely manner, with consistent communication to members throughout.
  • Managing general upkeep and maintenance of the buildings, ensuring all records, Health and Safety standards and statutory obligations are met.
  • Assist with building management systems and access control training and daily operation for the efficient operations of facilities.
  • Assist with management of services, such as cleaning, waste disposal, catering, and parking.
  • Liaise with relevant contractors and partners to ensure all defects or issues are resolved efficiently and with minimal disruption.
  • Respond urgently to emergencies as they arise.
  • Assist with the management of refurbishment, renovations, and work-space moves.
  • Assists with budget management and tracking payments.
  • Assist with management of office systems, including ICT and office.
  • Provide administrative support to the Head of Facilities in the procurement process, including the development and issue of tender documentation, maintaining applicable audit trails, and building processes and procedures.

Essential Criteria

  • Educated to secondary level or equivalent BTEC qualification.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Familiarity in technology, including audio-visual, tele and video conferencing and WIFI.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience of working within general building and/or engineering discipline.
  • Relevant qualification in construction-related subject and preferable building services.
  • Experience working with a wide range of customers in the provision of facilities services.
  • Knowledge of building services installations.
  • Knowledge of relevant statutory regulations for management of building services.
  • Qualified First Aider.
  • Qualification in Health and Safety.

Special Requirements

  • Proof of right to work in the UK.
  • On occasions the ability to work evenings and weekends for events and planned maintenance.
  • Ability and flexibility to travel between sites.
  • Full current driving license (valid in the UK) and access to own car (or access to a form of transport which will allow the applicant to carry out these duties).

Emma Catalyst”s HR Officer and works in the People & Culture team.

As HR Officer, in a small and busy team, Emma is responsible for providing expert support on daily activities and key HR projects.

Prior to joining Catalyst, Emma obtained a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management and is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
